Abhyanga(Body massage)
Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic classical approach. In this practice, oily material is applied over the body parts, either to a localized area or from head to toes. After oil application we perform massage of the body with gentle, long sweeping movements of the palms of the therapist. The oil may be plain or medicated. We select the medicated oil according to the body constitution, tolerability, acceptability and the disease of the patient. It is good for the health and wellness of the individual. We use specific massage techniques in Ayurveda treatments in Prasadini Ayurnikethana. The most commonly used materials for Abhyanga are oils and ghee.

Agnikarma
Agnikarma is a procedure of applying heat using different objects or materials like metallic probes of different shapes, jaggery, turmeric, piper longum, semicarpus anacardium, mud probe etc. Specific locations of agnikarma for each disease is mentioned in Ayurveda classical texts. Therefore, selection of points of Agnikarma and materials are very important for getting benefits. This procedure can be repeated again and again till the patient gets relief.

Anjana Eye Treatment
In the Anjana therapeutic treatment procedure, we apply medicinal pastes or thick liquids to the inner aspect of lower eyelids, either by finger tips or with an applicator.
Indications of Anjana are when features are clearly and fully manifested and localized in the eyes. The acute inflammatory features must subside in the body of the individual. We do Anjana when eyes are the only sites of localized pathological manifestation. We do Anjana only after initial features of pathology settle down. There should be complete absence of exudates, scratching, swelling, dull look, redness or congestion.

Aschyotana Eye Treatment
In Aschyotana we instill few drops of liquid medicines to the open eye from a height of 2 inches. It is the first line of treatment in all eye diseases. When disease is not in acute condition and at an early stage it is an ideal procedure. It can be done after subsiding acute symptoms.
Aschyotana will relieve painful eye conditions, scratching, irritation or foreign body sensation, excessive watering, burning sensation, redness or congestion and features of inflammation. Aschyotana is indicated in many of the eye disease conditions like visual disturbances, dry eye conditions, Allergic eye conditions, diseases of eyelids wherein eyelids are painful and eyelashes damaged, structural deformities like squint, difficulty in the movement of eyeball and eyelids, diseases of sclera, diseases of cornea, diseases dominated by swelling, diseases due to injuries.

Bashpa Sweda
Bashpa Sweda is a type of fomentation, where the individual sits in a closed chamber up to the level of neck, for a prescribed period. Steam is generated in a closed vessel with medicated decoction and that steam enters the chamber. We continue procedure till features of proper fomentation like perspiration from forehead and relief from stiffness and relief from pain happens.

Basti Karma (Medicated Enema Therapy)
The procedure in which the drug prepared according to Ayurveda classical texts is administered through anal canal, spreads the potency of the drugs to the whole body, removes disease causing harmful factors and easily comes out along with stools is called Basti treatment or Basti Therapy. There are many types and different drugs used and decided by the Ayurveda expert physicians.

Jaloukavacharana (Leech Therapy)
People from a variety of backgrounds - whether they are students, professionals in the workforce, or busy stay-at-home moms; face enormous amounts of stress in their daily lives. This is the point of hypertension that affects most of the established population. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is when the pressure in your blood vessels is too high (140/90 mmHg or higher). It is common but can be serious if not treated. The patient's age, sex, physical and mental activities, genetics, and food all affect how serious the illness is. As of right now, hypertension affects people of all ages and causes negative consequences for everyone from young adults to those in their moderate years. People with high blood pressure may not feel symptoms. The only way to know is to get your blood pressure checked.

Janu Basti
Janu Basti is a type of local unctuous fomentation performed over the knee joint. In this treatment procedure, warm medicated oil is kept at the knee area, for a prescribed time, in an encircled dough prepared from thick black gram paste, for retention of oil. It acts effectively as it is applied at the site of lesion. The temperature of the oil should be maintained, by replacing a small quantity after reheating. Different medicated oils prepared from herbs and minerals are used in Ayurveda treatment depending on the patient’s condition and disease.

Kati Basti
Kati Basti is a type of local unctuous fomentation treatment for lower back or lumbar region. In this procedure, Patient lies in a prone position, warm medicated oil is kept in the middle of the low back area, in an encircled dough prepared from thick black gram paste, for retention of oil. It acts effectively as it is applied at the site of lesion. The temperature of the oil should be maintained, by replacing a small quantity after reheating. Different oils are used depending on the patient’s condition and disease.

Kaya Seka or Pizhichil
Kaya Seka is a type of liquid fomentation in which we pour warmed liquids like medicated decoction, medicated oil. Kaya Seka with oil is an unctuous type of fomentation, in which we pour warmed oil all over the body or a specific part of the body for a stipulated period of about 45 minutes to 1 hour, in a specific manner, for 7, 14 or 21 days. It has the advantage of producing strength and unctuousness along with fomentation simultaneously. If we use oil in this procedure, then specifically we call it Pizhichil in Kerala Ayurveda. Kaya Seka with medicated decoction is a variety of liquid fomentation, in which we use warmed medicated decoction to pour all over the body or a part of the body. We carry out the Kaya Seka process in different positions.

Nasya Karma Treatment
Administration of drugs through the nasal route is called as Nasya, since the nose is the gateway of the head. To remove the Doshas present above the clavicle and to strengthen head and neck, Nasya Karma is used. Thus, Nasya can be defined as administration of medicated oil, ghee, decoction, milk etc. through the nasal route for the elimination of disease-causing Dosha situated in the head and neck region. According to the action and medicines, there are varieties of Nasya.

Patra Pinda Swedana (Elakhizhi or Pacha Kizhi)
The Patra Pinda Swedana or Patra Pottali swedana is a type of Swedana or fomentation, in which a bundle of medicinal leaves along with other medicines and materials are used. Different medicinal powders can be added, if necessary. It is widely used and popular treatment modalities in musculoskeletal disorders, neck pain, low back ache, sciatica, arthritis, joint pain etc.

Pindi or Kavalika Eye Treatment
Pindi is the modification of Vidalaka. Instead of directly applying the medicated paste to the eyelids, we pack the medicine in a thick cotton cloth and keep it tightly over the eyelids. The synonyms of this procedure are “Avaguntana”, “Kavalika” and “Gundana”.

Netra Seka or Parisheka Eye Treatment
In the Netra Seka or Parisheka therapeutic procedure we pour the thin stream of liquid medicines very slowly over the closed eyes from a height of four inches.
Seka or Parisheka is the one among the first line of treatment of acute or inflammatory or traumatic conditions of eyes especially to relieve pain, watering, redness, itching and discharge from the eyes.

Shastikashali Pinda Sweda
Shastikashali Pindasweda is a type of fomentation, in which a bolus of Shastika Shali, a type of rice along with medicated decoction and milk is used. This is used as a prior procedure for the cleansing process, Panchakarma, along with oil massage. These procedures prepare the body and convert disease causing elements in the form that they can be removed from the body leaving it unharmed. Important indications and uses of Shastikashali Pinda sweda are especially in Vata diseases, in weak and emaciated patients, diseases caused due to Raktha Prakopa and diseases of joints and bones.

Shiro Dhara or Shiro Seka
In Shiro Dhara treatment we pour medicated oil, milk or buttermilk in a continuous stream over the forehead. For this we use a vessel which holds the medicated liquid with a hole at the bottom. The patient has to lie down in a supine position in a suitable Dhara table.
Shiro Basti is indicated in headaches, burning sensation in the head region, tremors of the head, ulcer over the head, premature greying of hair, fatigue, lack of vitality, insomnia, disease of the eyes, diseases of nose and diseases of the ears.

Tarpana Eye Treatment
Tarpana is the local procedure of application of oily substances, through a specially prepared border over the eye. It is the best method of providing nurture to the eyes.
Tarpana is indicated in many of the eye disease conditions like visual disturbances, dry eye conditions, Allergic eye conditions, diseases of eyelids wherein eyelids are painful and eyelashes damaged, structural deformities like squint, difficulty in the movement of eyeball and eyelids, diseases of sclera, diseases of cornea, diseases dominated by swelling, diseases due to injuries.

Vamana Therapy
Vamana Karma, primarily a Samshodhana Karma (detoxification procedure) is one of the five Pradhana Karmas (chief procedures) of Panchakarma.
In Ayurveda, Vamana therapy is effective in “Kapha” predominant diseases like rheumatism, irritable bowel syndrome, bronchial asthma, allergic bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, migraine, fever, indigestion, anorexia, obesity, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, acne vulgaris, severe skin diseases (psoriasis, eczema, Lichen Planus, vitiligo etc.), urticaria, oedema, filariasis, various psychological disorders, epilepsy, Polycystic ovarian disease, infertility, thyroid disorders and many other disorders indicated in Ayurveda.

Vidalaka Eye Treatment
Vidalaka is the application of medicated paste to the outer surface of the closed eyelids. The paste should be restricted to the lids and not extended to the eyelashes.
Main indications of Vidalaka in eyes are burning sensation, discharges, excessive tears, swelling, redness or congestion, different types of pain, scratching and foreign body sensation. With proper ingredients in the medicine used for Vidalaka can control such a wide range of initial symptoms of eye diseases. Vidalaka can be used as a first line of treatment in acute conditions of eye diseases. The advantage of Vidalaka is the medicine will not come into the direct contact with ocular surface. So, no aggravation of symptoms due to irritant effect of the drugs. Different combinations are mentioned in Ayurveda classical texts to relieve pain, to cool the eyes and in chalazion.

Viddha karma or Siravyadha (Boodletting Therapy)
Viddha karma or Siravyadha is a type of bloodletting therapy mentioned in Ayurvedic traditional texts. It is considered as half treatment in surgery. The vitiated blood is let out to protect the health or to cure the disease. The amount of blood removed should be according to the strength of the body and vitiated Dosha.

Virechana Treatment or Therapy
According to the principle of Ayurveda, the vitiated doshas are melted and liquified by oil massage and fomentation (swedana procedure) and flow towards abdomen, ultimately to the gastrointestinal tract. From there doshas are expelled out by Virechana therapy through end part of digestive tract, anal route. through purgation.
