Dama: Salacia (Ekanayaka or Saptachakra) has a long history of use as a treatment for diabetes in Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine. In addition to treating diabetes, salacia is used for treating gonorrhea, asthma, itchiness, joint pain (rheumatism), obesity, thirst, and menstrual problems. Chemicals in salacia seem to prevent sugars in food from being absorbed by the body.
Swertia cirayita or Kiratatiktha helps to manage diabetes due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps prevent damage to pancreatic cells and enhances the release of insulin. This helps lower the level of blood sugar.
Research reported the antidiabetic potential of jamun seeds. Jamun, botanically named as Syzygium cumini,. Its fruit seed is generally acknowledged to be very high quality for its curative function chiefly against diabetes because of its effect on pancreas .
Babul or Acacia arabica is a dietary supplement for improving nutrition of type 2 diabetic patients; it has demonstrated a good effect on improving their poor glycemic control. It has also shown effects in correcting the levels of the lipids and the BMI.
Bilva or Aegle marmelos leaf extract is being used in Ayurveda as a medicine for diabetes. The present study examined the action of Aegle marmelos against experimental diabetes as well as the antioxidant potential of the drug. A methanolic extract of Aegle marmelos was found to reduce blood sugar in alloxan diabetic rats.
Amrita or Tinospora cardifolia is a potent medicinal properties make it an amazing herb for diabetes. A study published in the journal of Ethnopharmocology found that Guduchi or Amrita lowers blood glucose levels in diabetic rats. Additionally, other studies have proved that Guduchi has the ability to reduce oxidative stress.
